Just a follow up for others trying this: plug-ins (like Advertising Manager...) are only available if you are using Wordpress.org, NOT on Wordpress.com. Wordpress.org is privately hosted and operated using the Wordpress application, but Wordpress.com is hosted and managed by wordpress.com for the blogger. If you have a blog (or multiples) using xxx.wordpress.com, then you cannot install plug-ins, so you will not be able to run AdSense or AdManager as described above.

I think I'm going to just go back to using a webpage...where I have control of the format, content and code!

Thanks for this Rebekah! I've added AdSense and AdManager to some of my other websites before. I have several Wordpress blogs, though, and haven't had any success trying to add AdSense. I haven't had time, though, to research other utilities to assist. I'm definitely going to try the Advertising Manager plug-in, and hopefully this will do the trick!
